Warburton Redwood Forest Fashion Editorial Photoshoot
As a rustic wedding photographer in Melbourne I love the variety of location we have in this town. From the city, to the beach to secret Redwood forests. We are lucky as photographer to live in such a beautiful place.
I got to know Cat through my commercial photography. Cat is a working model and we worked together previously but Cat & Mat are actually a married couple. They were married almost a year ago. I was not the photographer for the wedding.
We shot in a beautiful redwood forest just outside of Warburton Victoria I found for another project while out on a recce. The forest itself is a little hard to find but a great place to shoot.
We saw no one while we were there despite the good weather.
The shoot was a little rushed. By the time we got out to the forest in the Yarra Valley of Victoria we were about a hour late. The traffic on the day was just terrible. It took twice as long as I thought it would to get there. Despite this And despite me driving a little quicker than I normally would we arrived as the sun was low in the sky, and as many of you will know this gives the light a beautiful soft warm glow.
They call this golden hour. And that was about the amount of time I had to shoot everything. Not unlike an actually wedding I reckon. The sun was super bright in pockets and so I used this to my advantage by placing the guys in or out of these spot lights from the sun.
We had fun. I wish we had another hour or two but as anyone that has shoot like this…nothing ever goes to plan. As a photographer we all know this is just part of the gig.
the forest itself is beautiful. Not as large as I had hoped. but it was quiet and still. Cat was keen to take her shoes off. The forest floor was soft…mostly! I do believe it adds to the styling of the images but I guess you can be the judge of that!.
